The elephants were amazing. I learned that they are in great great danger. So please help sponsor elephants at the patara elephant farm. I spent my day caring for them swimming with them seeing if they are healthy. You need to make sure elephants are healthy by… seeing if they were sleeping last night on their side (having dust on both sides of the elephant) and second is by seeing sweat at their toenails. Third is is if there is tears by the side of their face and last but not least if they have 6 or more droppings of poo!!
Riding an elephant is quite scary at first. You have to get used to riding him first. I spent the whole day with my elephant and I was the first one to get on my elephant. My elephant's name was… Poho, which is Thai for mountain. (Poho is pronounced like pooh)
So that was my experience with elephants.
And Molly, my experience with rats was quite scary. It scattered across the floor when we were at the old Chiang Mai cultural center having dinner on the floor. The dances were pretty awesome. My favourite one was a guy that had 22 knives at his mouth.
2012 is the year of the dragon so there are a lot of dragon dances in Thailand.
I am going swimmin'!!!!!

just how big is elephant poo?

Each dropping is the size of a coconut and very wet.
DeleteIt looks like you had a lot of fun with your Elephant! Austyn has sat on an elephant, but never ridden one in the water. Do elephants go under water, or do they always keep their heads up? Erica and Austyn
ReplyDeleteHi Austyn! They do keep their heads up but they also can go completely under. When they do that, they keep their trunks up out of the water to breathe.
DeleteHey Colleen. For some reason your comment isn't showing up. I enjoyed swimming with my elephant but it was quite freaky because you couldn't see where their feet were. I saw one cockroach in the dunkin donuts case in the train station in Bangkok.
ReplyDeleteEw...inside the case where the donuts were?

ReplyDeleteAmazing pictures Ollie, looks like fun! Thinking about looking for tears in the Elephants eyes makes me sad :( But I am glad you got to learn so much about them! Georgia.
